আজ শুক্রবার ২২ ফেব্রুয়ারি সকালে জাতীয় প্রেসক্লাবের সামনে আয়োজিত এক মানববন্ধনে এ দাবি জানায় ভাড়াটিয়া পরিষদের সাধারণ সম্পাদক মো. মোস্তফা।
মানববন্ধনে দাঁড়িয়ে তিনি বলেন, চকবাজারের অগ্নিকাণ্ডের ঘটনায় হতাহতরা বাড়িওয়ালা ও ক্যামিকেল ব্যবসায়ীদের নিষ্ঠুরতার শিকার। আবাসিক ভবনের মালিক কিভাবে দাহ্য পদার্থ কেমিক্যাল এর গোডাউন ভাড়া দিলেন এটা আমাদের কাছে বোধগম্য নয়। ভয়াবহ এই অগ্নিকাণ্ডের সুষ্ঠু তদন্তপূর্বক দোষী ভবন মালিকদের দৃষ্টান্তমূলক শাস্তি প্রদান করা উচিত। এবং অনতিবিলম্বে আবাসিক এলাকা থেকে কেমিক্যাল ব্যবসা সরিয়ে নিতে হবে।
তিনি আরো বলেন, ২০ ফেব্রুয়ারি রাতে চকবাজারের চুড়িহাট্টা গলির আহমেদ মেনশন এ ভয়াবহ অগ্নিকান্ডে ভবনের ভেতরে থাকা দর্য পদার্থের গোডাউনে দ্রুত আগুন ছড়িয়ে পড়ে। এতে করে ৮১ জনের অধিক লোক এ আগুনে পুড়ে মারা যায় এবং অসংখ্য লোক আহত হয়। ২০১০ সালের নিমতলী ট্র্যাজেডি তে প্রায় ১৫০ জন মানুষ পুড়ে মারা। সে সময় সরকারের তড়িৎ পদক্ষেপের ফলে দেশবাসীর মনে আশার সঞ্চার হয়েছিল। তারা ভেবেছিল ব্যবসায়ীরা আবাসিক এলাকায় আর কোন বিপজ্জনক ব্যবসা পরিচালনা করতে পারবে না। কিন্তু সেই একই ঘটনার পুনরাবৃত্তি দেখতে পেলাম আমরা। এই ঘটনার জন্য কেমিক্যাল ব্যবসায়ীরা দায়ী বলে আমরা মনে করছি। অগ্নিকাণ্ডে আহত নিহতদের পর্যাপ্ত ক্ষতিপূরণ প্রদানের জন্য সরকারের প্রতি আমাদের উদাত্ত আহ্বান জানাচ্ছি।
মানববন্ধনে আরো উপস্থিত ছিলেন ভাড়াটিয়া পরিষদের সভাপতি মোঃ বাহারানে সুলতান বাহার, কেন্দ্রীয় নেতা দীপু মীর, মো. শামীম, মো. হাসান, জোসনা বেগম প্রমুখ।
