সাড়ে ১৭ বছর পর কারাগার থেকে মুক্ত বাতাসে লুৎফুর জামান বাবর।

সাড়ে ১৭ বছর কারাবাসের পর সব মামলায় খালাস পেয়ে কারামুক্ত হলেন বিএনপির নেতৃত্বাধীন চারদলীয় জোট সরকারের সাবেক স্বরাষ্ট্র প্রতিমন্ত্রী লুৎফুজ্জামান বাবর।
বৃহস্পতিবার (১৬ জানুয়ারি) দুপুর ২ টা ১০ মিনিটে তিনি কেরানীগঞ্জে ঢাকা কেন্দ্রীয় কারাগার থেকে কারামুক্ত হন। এ সময় তার নিজ নির্বাচনী এলাকা নেত্রকোনা-৪ ( মদন মোহনগঞ্জ খালিয়াজুরী) থেকে হাজারো নেতাকর্মী তাকে শুভেচ্ছা জানাতে কারা ফটকে ভিড় করেন। তিনি কারা ফটক থেকে বেরিয়ে আসার সময় উৎসুক নেতাকর্মী ধাক্কাধাক্কি করে কারা ফটকের মূল গেট ভেঙে ভিতরে প্রবেশ করে তাকে বহনকারী গাড়িটি ঘিরে ধরে বিভিন্ন স্লোগান দিতে থাকে। নেতাকর্মীদের ভিড়ের চাপে কারা ফটক থেকে মূল রাস্তায় প্রবেশ করতে তার প্রায় আধঘন্টা সময় লেগেছে।
জানা গেছে,কেরানীগঞ্জের কারাগার থেকে মুক্তি পাওয়ার পর নেতাকর্মীদের নিয়ে রাজধানীর শেরেবাংলা নগরের জিয়া উদ্যানে বিএনপির প্রতিষ্ঠাতা শহিদ রাষ্ট্রপতি জিয়াউর রহমানের কবর জিয়ারত করার কথা রয়েছে। এরপর তিনি গুলশানের বাসায় যাবেন।
উল্লেখ্য:২০০৭ সালের ২৮মে আটক হন লুৎফুজ্জামান বাবর। এরপর বিভিন্ন মামলায় তার দণ্ড হয়। এর মধ্যে দুটি মামলায় তার মৃত্যুদণ্ডাদেশ হয় এবং একটিতে দেয়া হয় যাবজ্জীবন কারাদণ্ড। তবে গত বছরের ৫ আগস্ট ছাত্র-জনতার অভ্যুত্থানে আওয়ামী লীগের সরকার পতন হওয়ার পর এসব মামলার আপিল শুনানি শেষে একে একে খালাস পান বাবর। সর্বশেষ গত মঙ্গলবার তিনি চট্টগ্রামে আটক দশ ট্রাক অস্ত্র মামলায় খালাস পেয়ে আজ কারাগার থেকে বেরিয়ে আসেন।
