কেরানীগঞ্জে র্যাব পরিচয়ে যাত্রীবাহী বাসে ডাকাতি করার সময় জনতার সহায়তায় ৫ ডাকাতকে আটক করেছে কেরানীগঞ্জ মডেল থানা পুলিশ। গ্রেফতারকৃতরা হলেন, ১. মোঃ রুবেল (৫০),২.আরিফ (৩৫),৩.শরিফুল ইসলাম (৪২),৪.উৎপল দেবনাথ (৩৮)৫. দুলু মিয়া (৩৯)। আজ ( ০৭ মে ) দুপুরে কেরানীগঞ্জ সার্কেলের অতিরিক্ত পুলিশ সুপার জাহাঙ্গীর আলম এক প্রেস ব্রিফিং এর মাধ্যমে তিনি জানান, গতকাল ৬ মে মঙ্গলবার সন্ধ্যা সাতটায় ঢাকা থেকে ছেড়ে আসা নবাবগঞ্জ গামী নবকলি পরিবহনের একটি যাত্রীবাহী বাস রোহিতপুর ইউনিয়নের তুলসীখালী ব্রিজের কাছাকাছি আসলে র্যাব পরিচয়ে ডাকাত দল বাসটি থামিয়ে ফেলে। এ সময় ডাকাতরা বাসের ভিতর প্রবেশ করে যাত্রীদের অস্ত্রের ভয় দেখিয়ে সুমন সরকার নামে এক যাত্রীকে মারধর করে বাস থেকে নামাতে থাকে। এতে সুমন সরকারের সাথে থাকা অন্তর পাল ওরফে প্রার্থ নামে ওর এক যাত্রী তার কাছে থাকা টাকা ভর্তি ব্যাগ নিয়ে একটি পুকুরে ঝাঁপ দিয়ে পালিয়ে যায়। ডাকাতির খবর পেয়ে কেরানীগঞ্জ মডেল থানা অফিসার ইনচার্জ মোহাম্মদ মনিরুল হক ডালুর নেতৃত্বে একদল পুলিশ দ্রুত ঘটনা স্থলে গিয়ে স্থানীয় লোকজনের সহায়তায় ৫ ডাকাতকে গ্রেফতার করতে সক্ষম হয়। ঘটনাস্থল থেকে হাইস মাইক্রোবাস, দুইটি ওয়াকিটকি, দুইটি র্যাবের জ্যাকেট, একটি হ্যান্ডকাপ, একটি লেজার লাইট, পাঁচটি চাকু, একটি ইলেকট্রিক শকমেশিন ও একটি লোহার বাটন লাঠি উদ্ধার করা হয়।
